Description
Forest school, what is it?
It is a long-term process of self-esteem, through hands-on learning experiences in a wood or natural environment with trees.
Forest school encourages curiosity and exploration with all the senses, empowerment of children in the natural environment, spatial awareness and motor development. Children explore, challenge and use their imagination. It is an open place that allows the child to become familiar with the risks, to choose, initiate and direct his own learning. They develop a strong and positive relationship with the natural world.
It is also beneficial for children who are low self-confidence and whose behaviour is difficult; children can safely experience activities that are often prohibited, such as climbing trees, using a knife, saw or lighting fires. It also allows sociabilisassions by listening.
The Forest Schools have become an educational method in many countries. They complement the teaching of Steiner pedagogy and diversify contact with nature.
